Diagnosis

Finding the exact cause of your allergy illness is a complex
and challenging task.
Your quality of life has been
severely impacted by discomforting symptoms from a variety of food and
environmental (molds, pollen from trees, grasses, and weeds, danders, smuts, dust, dust
mites, etc.) irritants.
It requires expert knowledge, skill, and patience to accurately apply
precise diagnostic testing methodologies that expose the underlying
causes.
As a new patient, we ask detailed questions about

We begin to examine
your total load which is the sum total at any one time of your exposures to specific environmental stressors to which
you are
individually susceptible.
For example, if you
have been found to be susceptible to household dust, molds, cat dander,
tree pollens, several foods, perfumes, have a magnesium deficiency, a gluten
intolerance, and you are under psychological stress at work these stressors when
taken together will be your total load, the sum of all the
exposures to these stressors at any one time.
Our goal is to identify all the important stressors which may affect you and
to devise a reasonable plan to avoid and/or minimize these stressors as much as
possible, and practical.
Your first step is setting a New Patient Appointment for an
extensive history and a physical with one of our physicians.
Lab Studies may be ordered for analyses
of various immune system
functions.
Medical Imaging may be ordered to clarify
the degree of involvement of an end organ or system.
Intradermal Skin Testing assesses
sensitivity to biological inhalants, foods, chemicals, neurotransmitters,
insects, hormones, and other substances. This form of testing is very precise
because we observe for immediate reaction, delayed reactions, and symptoms which
may be related to a person’s allergies. Testing will require 15 – 20 hours,
conducted over a period of time. Although this form of testing requires a
commitment from the allergy sufferer, the information obtained is comprehensive
and the results are impressive.
For example, if someone has a sensitivity to dairy products, we not only test
dairy but the mold on dairy products. If someone, suspects he has a problem with
oats, we test oats, the mold on oats, and gluten. We try to offer a complete
picture to our testing and provide answers to why someone may be feeling so
poorly.
This technique gives a more accurate indication of whether a substance is
actually involved with an illness.
